The partnership have been making the most of winter conditions.  The bare tree canopy has allowed those who are shooting to make great progress with noticeable results.  The relative scarcity and importance of food, combined with some bright sunny mornings has allowed trapping to remain successful over the last few months.

RSPP has been making sustained efforts to clear woods in the Slaley and Dipton Woods Red Squirrel Reserves and 5km buffer zones. We have also expanded operations to include the areas of the Rivers Allen and South Tyne.   The Derwent valley has also seen much activity with a big increase in householders with traps in domestic gardens. If you live in these areas and wish to help trap please call the number on the home page.
